Jungle Creek is a boutique vacation rental property composed of 5 independent apartments located in central Manuel Antonio. Set in a quiet residential neighborhood along a charming creek in Valle Pura Vida (literally the 'Valley of Pure LIfe'), it is the perfect place for nature lovers. The location is also ideal, about midway between Quepos / Marina Pez Vela and Manuel Antonio national park & main beach, Playa Espadilla, just 10 minutes in either direction. We hope this guide will help you to enjoy the property and answer any questions you may have!

From Quepos head up into Manuel Antonio. After approximately 2.3km—jut BEFORE the tiny bridge and big hill—turn left into Valle Pura Vida (look for Jungle Creek Villas sign and Rio Mono signs). Go 200m and cross another small bridge, then turn Right and go another 100m until you see the yellow façade of Jungle Creek on the left. Please be sure not to obstruct the street when parking.
When you arrive at Jungle Creek you may park in any of the 3 spaces out front, or on the right side of the road (please do not block the road however). The main gate is accessed via the code below. Alma Pacifica has a digital lock:
Gate code: 134679#
Door code: 8934
Embark on an unforgettable Safari Adventure in Manuel Antonio Vacations's game reserves and national parks. Witness the awe-inspiring wildlife up close, and enjoy camping under the starry skies. Our package includes lodging, meals, and guided tours.
There are several networks at Jungle Creek, and the best network will depend on where you are. Here are the networks / passwords for each:
Password: Jungle2012
Each apartment has a flatscreen TV which can be used with your personal streaming services via the internet. (There is no local cable package.)
There are mini-split AC units in each of the bedrooms, and also the living area. Please do not set below 20 degrees Celsius (68 Fahrenheit), as this may cause the units to freeze up. Electricity is expensive in Costa Rica AND we want to protect the environment, so please turn off the AC units when you’re not using them, or leaving the property for longer than 1 hour.
There are a washer and dryer for use for the guests, as well as detergent. The laundry area is located down the steps in front of the entrance, at the end of the walkway. Please do not put shoes or sandy clothing in the washer, as it is easily damaged. Please reuse towels when possible. Also, please use only the beach towels for the beach and pool area. Lost or damaged towels will incur a fee of $20/each.
Parking is tight at Jungle Creek, so please be sure not to block the main road. If the parking spaces in front of the garage are taken you are welcome to park on the right side of the road just past Jungle Creek.
The Pool and rancho are shared spaces for our guests, so please be sure to be respectful to others' right to use them. The pool is cleaned Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays in the mornings. Please do not use glassware in the pool.
There is also a BBQ grill which you can use. The gas tank is below the grill and must be turned on prior to use--and turned off after use. We also have a spare in case it runs out.
Jungle Creek is very secure and located in a secure area of Manuel Antonio, however please be sure to ensure the safety of your valuables and others also.
Housekeeping is included before and after your stay. For stays of a week or longer a mid-week cleaning is also included. We encourage you to leave a tip for the housekeeper at the end of your stay--you may use the provided envelope. Thank you!
Our septic system is easily damaged, so please through all toilet paper and sanitary products in the trash bin.
If the tank on the gas stove runs out, please let a staff member know and we'll change it out. If it's outside of normal business hours you can change out the tank using this instruction video: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/uWHCOzDdDNI

Great, high-end restaurant in the Gaia hotel with nice sunset views. (Recommend having a drink on the rooftop where you can see Villa Mar y Sol!)
Turn Right on the main road and go 1 min until you see the entrance to the Gaia Hotel on your right. Park and they will take you up in a golf cart, which is also cool.

Local restaurant with great sunset views & sangria. Try the bananas flambé--but be sure to wear fire-retardant clothing!
Turn Right on the main road and then take the first Left. Drive up past another (new) sunset drinks place--Ronny's is higher up.

A 30-40 minute hike takes you to a rocky, little-visited beach that translates literally as ‘Cow Beach’. Not a great place for swimming, but beautiful nonetheless. Combine with Playa La Macha for an internediate hike (or with drinks at Ronny's Place afterwards!).
Go downhill past Ronny's place, take the first RIght and park, then hike 10 min down to the beach.

Another 20-minute hike from Playa Vaca takes you to beautiful Playa la Macha, which is sandy with large rocks (be cautious when swimming). Best at low tide. Clothing optional.
Either hike from Playa Vaca, or turning Left in front of the Bongo hotel, driving down then back up a hill, parking and hiking 15 min down to the beach.

A 45-minute hike along a creek takes you to the top of one of Manuel Antonio’s only waterfalls – El Salto. The hike isn't strenuous--but somewhat challenging due to roots and crossing the creek several times. We don't recommend jumping.
From Villa Mar y Sol head down the hill and veer Left twice until you come to the entrance of Rio Mono / Riverside. Straight ahead is a dodgy, rusted metal bridge that marks the trailhead. (Caution if you cross the bridge!)

Turn Right on the main road an go 50m. Just in front of Amigos del Rio, the public bus stops every 15 min during the day for the beach or Quepos, and every 30 min from 6-9pm. The cost is approximately $1.50 one-way.
Sloths ride for free.
The closest beach is technically Playa Vaca, which you can only reach through hiking. The fastest beach to get to is the main public beach, Playa Espadilla. Turn left on the main road and drive 8 minutes to the end. Park where you want—not where the shady guy in the orange vest tells you to park.
Yes—the public water is drinkable in Costa Rica.
The Costa Rican electrical and water systems are very dated. Occasionally, there are lapses in electricity, water or internet—though these are generally short-lived. If any of these services goes out for longer than 30 minutes, please inform your property manager immediately to be sure. Please also try to note if any neighbors have electricity, or if it is a neighborhood power outage.
Your concierge! She is always available to assist, and knows the best tour operators, transportation companies, guides, chefs and spa therapists in town. Please reserve well ahead of time to ensure availability. For some tours & services there is a deposit required, and no cancellations after 5pm the night before. Please ask your concierge for details.
In terms of food—no, though your concierge can help set up delivered groceries before your arrival or during your stay. In terms of cooking implements—yes. There are full cooking utensils, pots & pans, a coffee-maker, blender, microwave, toaster, stove, oven, and refrigerator.. There is also salt, pepper, vegetable oil, and paper towels.
The usual check-out time is 10:00am, and the usual check-in time is 3:00pm. If there are no other guests leaving / arriving on the day of your arrival / departure, we can be flexible with the time—however, this can only be confirmed 1 day prior to arrival.
Not if you are from North America—the plugs and electricity in Costa Rica are the same as in the U.S.—110 volt.
There is a basic ‘mini supermarket’ halfway between Casa Sophia and the main road, called the Super Joseth. For more variety we recommend going to Quepos, to the Mini Price store, or just outside of Quepos to BM.
Uber technically isn't legal in Costa Rica yet, and not available locally. Taxis are easy and affordable, however. You can order a taxi via Whatsapp:
